Jess brings a lifetime of elite competition and disciplined leadership to the helm of our program. Her journey is defined by Resilience and Integrity, with a leadership foundation forged early in her career. Beginning at age 23, Jess led Marines in both small and large units during her 20 year career, developing a command presence and the ability to execute missions in high-pressure environments. She further refined these skills as a manager within the government civil service, where she oversaw complex operations and personnel. This extensive background in professional governance allows her to lead OGVBC with the same strategic precision she applied in national service.
Jess’s athletic pedigree is rooted in the GRIT values she lived as a four-year starter and Captain at the U.S. Naval Academy. She ranks among Navy’s all-time leaders in assists and service aces, earning the prestigious Coaches’ Calvert Award in 2003 for her dedication and versatility. Having trained under legendary figures like Larry Bock, Misty May, and John Dunning, Jess possesses a profound understanding of what it takes to reach the higher levels of the sport. Even after a career-ending injury in 2024, her passion for the game remains the driving force behind her role as Director, where she views volleyball as a primary vehicle for mentoring the next generation of women leaders.
Under Jess’s leadership, OGVBC emphasizes both the physical and mental aspects of the game. Her coaching success—including leading teams at AAU Nationals and top-tier regional rankings—demonstrates her ability to translate her elite experience into measurable growth for young athletes. Drawing inspiration from her father, a veteran California Club Director and collegiate head coach, Jess is committed to fostering a culture of Growth and Teamwork. She provides the vision and infrastructure necessary for OGVBC athletes to thrive, ensuring they develop the discipline and confidence to lead both on and off the court.

Michelle Augustine brings a rare and powerful combination of elite athletic experience and executive precision to her role as Club Operations Director at OGVBC. A former Division I collegiate player at the United States Naval Academy, Michelle understands the grit required to compete at the highest levels. She seamlessly pairs that competitive background with over 20 years of leadership forged during her career in the United States Marine Corps.
At OGVBC, Michelle serves as the backbone of the organization, ensuring that the club’s growth is matched by discipline, structure, and a clear sense of purpose.
For Michelle, joining OGVBC was a choice driven by both loyalty and legacy. Drawn by the opportunity to support a dear friend and club founder, she saw a platform where her professional expertise could foster a meaningful community impact. She believes OGVBC stands out because its mission transcends the court:
"We are deeply passionate about guiding young women through some of the most formative years of their lives, empowering them to become positive forces within their families, schools, and communities."
As a mother, Michelle’s commitment is deeply personal. Witnessing firsthand the societal pressures young girls face today, she is dedicated to creating an environment where athletes can develop resilience and self-worth.
Having played as a libero/defensive specialist at Navy, Michelle knows the value of finding a place to excel and contribute to a team. As a coach for 14U club and private school teams, she finds her greatest joy in watching athletes "bloom"—seeing that spark of confidence ignite as they discover their own potential.
Michelle’s ultimate goal is for every OGVBC athlete to graduate from the program with more than just a strong serve or a solid pass. She strives to help them build a foundation of identity and integrity, ensuring they enter adulthood grounded, courageous, and ready to lead.
