Katie was a four-year NCAA Division I starter for the United States Naval Academy, excelling as a middle blocker for the Midshipmen from 2015-2019. During her career at Navy, she set three program career records and multiple single‑season records that still stand today. In her senior year, she helped lead the team to its first-ever conference championship and the program’s historic first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

After completing her Naval service in 2024, Katie returned to Annapolis to join the USNA Volleyball staff as the Recruiting Director and Operations Director. She brings a comprehensive understanding of offensive and defensive systems, as well as firsthand expertise in the collegiate recruiting process to the OGVBC family.

Katie chose to join OGVBC because of the strong mentorship, camaraderie, and shared commitment to athlete development within the coaching and leadership staff. She wholeheartedly believes in the club’s mission to build not only skilled volleyball players, but confident leaders and lifelong teammates.

OGVBC stands out among other clubs because it is mostly veteran-female

run/led. The athletes who will be a part of this club are getting a wealth of knowledge not only about

the sport, but about life, leadership, teamwork, and many other characteristics that are unique to

the backgrounds of all the staff and coaches.

I started playing volleyball at the age of 12, and immediately fell in love. I was recruited to play

at the Naval Academy, and after graduation I was able to play for All-Navy volleyball. I have

been coaching since 2009, a mix of high school (boys and girls) and club. In 2018 I was

selected as Boys High School Volleyball Coach of the Year for Virginia, and most recently I was

color analyst for Old Dominion University Volleyball on ESPN+. My favorite part of coaching is

seeing athletes realize their potential, especially when they thought they weren’t capable of

certain skills or achievements. I think sport is definitely a metaphor for life, and it has taught me

so much about working with diverse groups of people, motivating groups toward a common

goal, and that there can still be success even in loss. My hope is that the athletes I get to work

with learn these things too, and take these lessons with them throughout their lives.

Holly Berger grew up in Claremont, California playing volleyball for Club West and St. Lucy’s Priory High School, both in the greater Los Angeles area.  She went on to play in college at the U.S. Naval Academy as a libero. Throughout her four year years at Navy, she played in every single match.  Holly was selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player her sophomore and senior year, garnered multiple All-Tournament accolades and had the honor of serving as the team’s captain her senior year. Upon graduation in 2012, Holly commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps becoming a logistics officer and later a Foreign Area Officer.  She has been stationed all around the world and always finds ways to remain connected to the sport, whether that be as a player or a coach. Still on active duty, Holly and her husband, Kasey, live in Alexandria, VA. They have a daughter, Haddie, and a baby boy on the way.  Holly credits volleyball with teaching her some of life’s most valuable lessons. Her teammates remain some of her best friends and biggest role models. Holly is thrilled to join the OGVBC as a coach. She values the program’s commitment to balance, leadership development, and personal growth.  In addition to become better players, she hopes the athletes will gain confidence and perspective, both on and off the court, and grow their love for the game.

A native of Hawaii, Dylan grew up immersed in one of the nation's most storied volleyball cultures, a background that shaped his high-level court awareness and the "all-around" technical proficiency characteristic of island-style play.

Dylan’s competitive journey spans both domestic and international stages. He started playing at the age of ten for his local beach volleyball club, Aloha Volleyball, before moving to pursue his undergraduate education at Duke University, where he was a player and president of Duke Men's Club Volleyball. At the collegiate level, he was an impact player for Newcastle University in the United Kingdom, where he competed in the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) league, as well as in the British Super League for team Sunderland. This experience allowed him to adapt to international training methods and diverse tactical systems. Following this experience, Dylan returned to the States to pursue a law degree, where he has been a standout player for the George Washington University men’s club team for the past three years.

Having competed in major volleyball hubs from the Pacific to the Atlantic and across the pond, Dylan possesses a comprehensive understanding of the game. He specializes in high-efficiency attacking, floor defense, and the strategic nuances of the transition game.

Dylan chose to join OGVBC because of the club’s commitment to technical excellence and its positive, growth-oriented culture. He is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of athletes by sharing the "Aloha Spirit" and the versatile skill set he developed while competing at home and abroad.

Taylor was a standout NCAA Division I defensive specialist, competing at the highest level for both the University of New Mexico and West Virginia University from 2014–2017. During her tenure in the Big 12 Conference, Taylor was a vital defensive anchor for the Mountaineers, consistently ranking among the team’s leaders in digs and service aces. Her collegiate career was defined not only by her defensive grit against top-tier programs but also by her elite academic standing, earning multiple Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors.

Before her collegiate success, Taylor was a highly decorated prep athlete in Colorado, where she was named the 5A/4A Defensive Player of the Year and led her team to a 2013 Regional Championship. Her foundational training at the club level included five years with the prestigious Colorado Juniors and a selection to the USA Volleyball High Performance Select Continental Team, providing her with a deep-rooted understanding of the national volleyball landscape.

Taylor joins the OGVBC coaching staff with a Master’s degree in Sport Management and a sophisticated technical approach to the game. She brings specialized expertise in defensive systems, serve-receive mechanics, and the high-IQ floor skills required to excel in the back row.

Taylor chose to join OGVBC because of the club’s holistic approach to coaching and its dedication to fostering a competitive yet supportive environment. She is passionate about leveraging her Power Five experience to mentor young athletes, helping them develop the mental toughness and technical precision needed to succeed at the next level.

Bringing four years of DMV club coaching experience to OGVBC, Jess led teams to several top-10 finishes in regional events and a program’s strongest-ever finish at AAU Nationals for 13U. Jess’ expertise in training setters across all age groups (11-18U) and her focus on the physical and mental aspects of playing volleyball will contribute greatly to OGVBC’s mission of developing the next generation of women leaders.

Jess's standout junior career, which demonstrated early Resilience and Growth, included a grass Junior Olympic champion title in 1994, League Player of the Year, 2-time Team Captain, four-time All-League honors, and Hall of Fame recognition at Moreau Catholic High School in California. She set for a team that placed 10th at 18U Open Junior Olympics (1997) and 2nd at the 18U Junior Far Westerns Qualifier (1999). Her junior success, which included training under Misty May and Coach John Dunning, led to recruitment by multiple top-25 NCAA Division 1 programs.

At Division 1 U.S. Naval Academy, Jess was a four-year starter and team captain, embodying OGVBC's value of Teamwork. Excelling as a setter (3,391 career assists), she also showed Resilience and dedication by filling in part-time as an outside hitter and libero during her junior and senior seasons due to team injuries. She earned USNA’s Coaches’ Calvert Award in 2003, All-Patriot League Conference honors, set records in the Patriot League, and still ranks among Navy’s leaders in assists, service aces, sets and matches played, hitting percentage, and double-doubles. She played in 431 of a possible 445 games during her career.

After graduation, Jess continued her elite competition with the All-Marine Corps volleyball teams. She also played competitive reverse coed at USA Volleyball Nationals and in adult leagues, most recently playing at the AA level. Jess’s journey—being coached by her father, mentored by Coach Larry Bock, training with Olympians, and serving as a Marine Corps officer—demonstrates a profound commitment to Integrity, discipline, and mentorship, providing a unique perspective on the 'team-first' mentality that aligns with OGVBC's dedication to developing women leaders through its GRIT values. She draws inspiration from her most influential mentors, including Coach Larry Bock and her father—a former California Club Director who coached future Division 1 players (including an Olympian), and served as the head coach at NAIA Holy Names College in Oakland, CA.
